The Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, has called for the death penalty for counterfeiters, arguing it is the only way to stop their activities.
Onanuga shared this view via his X account on Wednesday, October 21, in reaction to a report by the National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control (NAFDAC) regarding the discovery of a suspected counterfeit alcohol factory in Aba, Abia State.
Condemning the illicit operators, the presidential aide stressed that counterfeiters lack a conscience and warned that their nefarious activities will persist unless they face capital punishment.
“These counterfeiters certainly have no conscience. Until we start imposing a death penalty on them, they will never stop their nefarious activities,” he wrote.
