Nyesom Wike is backing Tinubu, not APC – Senator Adams Oshiomhole

The lawmaker representing Edo North Senatorial District, Adams Oshiomhole, has clarified that the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, is aligned with President Bola Tinubu rather than the All Progressives Congress (APC) as a political party.

Adams Oshiomhole made the clarification on Tuesday while appearing as a guest on a TVC interview program.

The remark comes amid ongoing political friction between Nyesom Wike and several APC governors, following the minister's public description of certain governors within the ruling party as "politically lazy."

The former Edo State governor emphasized that although the FCT Minister maintains his membership in the opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), he has repeatedly declared his backing for President Bola Tinubu’s administration and political future.

“Wike is supporting President Tinubu and not the APC. The position of some of the APC governors and that of the minister is that they are both unanimous. They are all committed to supporting the re-election of President Tinubu,” Adams Oshiomhole stated.

“I am comfortable with the fact that the two sides are working for the same goal, supporting the President.

“I have not heard any side of the argument suggesting that anyone, including the FCT Minister, is opposed to President Tinubu’s re-election.
“He has said so himself repeatedly that he is not an APC person; he is not a member of the APC, but he supports the President,” he added.
