Nigerian actor Ray Adeka has criticised supporters of President Bola Tinubu's administration for frequently citing its reforms whenever the government is called out over economic hardship and the rising cost of living.
In a video shared online, Adeka said Nigerians who complain about the administration's handling of the economy are often met with arguments about the reforms introduced by the government.
He singled out three major policies: the removal of fuel subsidy, the expansion of the tax bracket and the floating of the naira.
Questioning the praise given to the policies, the actor recalled that Tinubu had opposed fuel subsidy removal during the 2012 Occupy Nigeria protests in Lagos, when he joined others in demonstrating against the proposed policy under former President Goodluck Jonathan.
Adeka also questioned why the expansion of the tax bracket, which he argued would place more Nigerians within the tax net, was being presented as an achievement worth celebrating.
He similarly criticised the floating of the naira, sarcastically describing the three policies as brilliant ideas that Nigerians should appreciate the president for introducing.
