Former Disney child star Erik Von Detten is being sued for alleged elder abuse and fraud.
An elderly couple, Norman Greenberg, 97, and Sheila Greenberg, 85, filed the lawsuit against the “Princess Diaries” star and Rosland Capital, according to TMZ.
The pair claimed they suffered $900,000 in damages while working with the 44-year-old actor and the company, which bought and sold precious metals.
Norman and Sheila alleged that the organization, which went bankrupt months after the lawsuit was filed, tries to exploit elderly citizens’ financial fears by selling them on the stability of gold.
The Greenbergs want to recoup their losses and receive an additional sum for punitive damages, per documents obtained by the outlet Tuesday. They wrote in their filing that they first contacted Rosland Capital in 2020 after seeing a commercial.
Von Detten, in subsequent phone calls with the duo, told them he had special knowledge of gold and could help them with the $2 million in their retirement accounts.
Norman and Sheila spent around $1 million on two Lady Liberty gold coins — then Von Detten spent another $1 million of theirs on more coins, all of which were allegedly stored in a warehouse.
The couple is now claiming to have spent around $2.1 million on coins allegedly worth only $1.3 million.
He began working with Rosland Capital in 2018.
That same year, Von Detten wed his wife, Angela, a real estate agent with whom he shares daughter Claire, 7, and sons Thomas, 5, and Nicholas, 3.
The former soap star’s acting career began in 1992 when he had a 55-episode run on “Days of Our Lives.”
