Super Eagles striker Kelechi Iheanacho has continued his impressive goalscoring run in Turkey, finding the net for the 11th consecutive league match as Bursaspor secured a 2-0 victory over Pendikspor on Monday, October 19. The Nigerian international scored in the 62nd minute to double his team's advantage after Halil Akbunar had opened the scoring in the 10th minute.
Iheanacho's latest goal takes his league tally to 15, further establishing him as one of Bursaspor's most influential players this season. Before the encounter, the former Manchester City and Leicester City forward had recorded 14 goals and three assists in 10 league appearances.
The 30-year-old has also continued to make history with his remarkable consistency in front of goal. He previously broke Bursaspor's club record by scoring in nine consecutive league matches, surpassing Brazilian striker Fernandao's eight-game streak from the 2014-15 season.
His achievement subsequently extended beyond the club's history when he surpassed the nine-match scoring records previously held by Turkish football legends Metin Oktay during the 1962-63 season and Saffet Sancaklı in the 1995-96 campaign. Iheanacho stretched his run to 10 consecutive league matches after scoring twice in Bursaspor's 3-0 victory over Muğlaspor on October 15, before extending the streak to 11 games with his latest strike against Pendikspor.
The Nigerian forward's outstanding performances have made him a central figure in Bursaspor's attack, with his goalscoring consistency strengthening his reputation as one of the competition's most dangerous strikers. With 15 league goals already recorded, Iheanacho will be hoping to maintain his impressive form and extend his historic scoring streak as the campaign continues.
