Police ban drones and fireworks ahead of Tinubu’s visit to Akwa Ibom

The Akwa Ibom State Police Command has prohibited the use of drones, fireworks and other devices that could cause panic ahead of President Bola Tinubu’s one-day working visit on Friday, November 6,

The state Commissioner of Police, Baba Azare, announced the restrictions at a news conference in Uyo on Thursday. He said the measures were intended to ensure a peaceful visit and protect residents. Tinubu is expected to inaugurate projects completed by Governor Umo Eno’s administration and attend an All Progressives Congress (APC) rally ahead of the 2027 general elections.

Azare advised residents to avoid routes designated for the presidential convoy. He said access would be restricted on major roads, including Airport Road, Iron Road and Ring Road III, leading to the Godswill Akpabio Stadium. The commissioner also urged other political parties to reschedule activities planned for Friday to prevent clashes and maintain public order.

He warned against attempts to disrupt the visit, saying the command was prepared to respond to security threats. Projects scheduled for inauguration include the new terminal building at Victor Attah International Airport, the Aviation Village, the Ring Road III Extension and Arise Resort Park in Uyo.
