Bellarmine Chatunga Mugabe, the son of Zimbabwe's late former president Robert Mugabe, has been arrested in connection with an assault case.
He was one of five men arrested on Tuesday, November 3, during a probe into the alleged smuggling of two luxury vehicles into Zimbabwe, online news site The New Zimbabwe reports.
According to local media reports, the vehicles have been seized by the Zimbabwe Anti-Corruption Commission.
Mugabe, 29, is the youngest son of Robert Mugabe and his second wife, Grace Mugabe. Robert Mugabe, who died in 2019, ruled Zimbabwe for 37 years before being forced from power at the age of 93 in 2017.
Police said Mugabe was arrested alongside Munashe Mubawu, 43, Terrence Johannes Chinyemba, 42, Fredson Peter, 33, and Solomon Pamire, 34.
All five were arrested in connection with a case of assault which happened at the Brompton Guest Lodge in Harare at about 18:30 local time (16:30 GMT) on 3 November, according to a police statement.
Simiso Mlevu, ZACC's spokesperson, said one of its officers was attacked during the seizure and the police were informed, according to Nehanda Radio.
"The Zimbabwe Anti-Corruption Commission today seized two high-end vehicles, that is the Lamborghini Urus and the Mercedes-Benz, on suspicion that these vehicles are in the country illegally," Mlevu said.
According to Mlevu, the Lamborghini came into Zimbabwe in June and records list it as leaving on July 12. The Mercedes-Benz was reportedly logged as departing for South Africa on October 10.
They are due to appear in court on 5 November.
