Nigerian rapper A-Q has revealed that he was attacked by about 10 masked men wielding machetes while taking a walk in East Legon, Accra, Ghana.
The rapper, whose real name is Gilbert Bani, said the incident occurred at around 10 p.m. on Saturday, October 17, when the men surrounded him on five motorcycles.
According to him, the riders attempted to corner him while the men on the back seats swung machetes at him. He said his elbow took a blow intended for his head.
A-Q managed to escape across the road, where a passerby took him to a hospital. He was taken into surgery, and his injuries were treated.
The rapper said the incident had been reported to the Ghana Police Service, which is investigating the attack. He added that he was now in a safe place.
He thanked the stranger who helped him and the medical team that treated him, while urging fans not to speculate about who was responsible or direct anger at anyone.
“Let the police do their work, and if you have any information, please share it with them,” he said.
