Manchester United have ruled out dismissing Director of Football Jason Wilcox, despite defender Lisandro Martinez publicly criticizing the club’s recent transfer strategy.
The friction escalated following Manchester United’s 2–0 defeat to Atletico Madrid in the Champions League. Speaking in a post-match interview, Martinez expressed frustration over inadequate summer recruitment and explicitly called out Wilcox's management. Several senior squad members reportedly share Martinez’s concerns regarding squad depth.
However, club leadership has maintained full backing for Wilcox. Minority co-owner Sir Jim Ratcliffe, who attended the match in Madrid, retains high confidence in the director’s vision and long-term planning.
Internal sources confirm Wilcox’s position remains secure as the club’s hierarchy focuses on recruitment targets ahead of the January transfer window. Meanwhile, Martinez has since held talks with leadership to address his post-match outburst.
