Corrupt politicians use fake NYSC members to conduct elections - Former INEC commissioner, Mike Iginni, alleges

A former INEC commissioner, Mike Iginni, has alleged that in the past elections, corrupt INEC officials connive with corrupt politicians to infiltrate the list of NYSC members who serve as electoral officers during elections.

In an interview with Arise TV this morning October 20, Iginni alleged that corrupt politicians replace the names of authentic NYSC members with fake persons whom they sew NYSC uniforms for, and then these criminals conduct the elections with the sole objective of churning out results that favour such politicians.

‘’Who are the presiding officers? They are young men and women who are currently in National Youth Service in Nigeria. What we found out, by way of experience, is that the NYSC list is infiltrated.

That is why the recommendation has always been the DG of NYSC must certify the integrity of the list of NYSC members because what politicians do is that they will infiltrate the list, either at the state level. They will bring in people, sew NYSC uniforms for them. So what you find at the polling unit are people who were actually submitted through compromise to our own staff to conduct elections at the level of the polling unit''
