Onitsha Pastor arraigned in court for allegedly promoting illicit wealth acquisition

The General Overseer of Dayspring Assembly, Awada, Obosi, Harrison Anazodo, was today, September 28, arraigned before Justice Jude Obiora of the Anambra State High Court sitting in Awka on a seven-count charge bordering on allegedly propagating the accumulation of wealth through supernatural means, which was proscribed by the Anambra State Homeland Security Law 2025, as well as m#rder, abd#ction, and the unlawful separation and isolation of individuals from their families and keeping them in his residence.

The clergyman was dragged before the court by the Anambra sate government following his arrest in June 2025.

According to the court, the alleged offences were committed between year 2000 and 2025.

The defendant who was brought to court from Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu University Teaching Hospital, Awka, pleaded not guilty to all seven counts.

Counsel to the defendant, W. O. Abonyi, thereafter, moved an application for bail.

However, prosecution counsel, C. V. Ononye, objected to the application, arguing that the prosecution had not been sufficiently informed and had not been given adequate notice to respond.

The court, while taking into consideration the health condition of the defendant, who had reportedly spent three weeks in the Intensive Care Unit of Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu University Teaching Hospital, ordered that he be returned to the hospital.

The court adjourned the matter to October 12, 2026, for the hearing of the bail application and further proceedings.
