NBA star LaMelo Ball's baby mama Ana Montana arrested on felony drug charges

LaMelo Ball’s baby mama, Ana Montana, has been arrested in North Carolina and is facing felony drug charges over allegations involving prescriptions for alprazolam, the generic form of Xanax.

Montana, whose real name is Analicia Chaves, was arrested Monday, September 28, in Mecklenburg County, according to booking records. She was charged with two felony counts of obtaining a controlled substance by fraud or forgery and two misdemeanor counts of simple possession of a Schedule IV controlled substance.

Montana was held on a $20,000 bond in connection with the felony charges. According to the arrest warrant, authorities allege that Montana obtained alprazolam from a Walgreens pharmacy using prescriptions written with a doctor’s allegedly stolen Drug Enforcement Administration registration and medical provider identification information.

The alleged conduct dates back to February 21. The warrant was issued on September 22, six days before her arrest on Monday. Montana’s lawyer, however, offered a different explanation of the allegations, stressing that the charges concern prescriptions allegedly written by a doctor using fraudulent credentials.

“To clarify, the charges allege that a doctor who used a fraudulent DEA registration and NPI number prescribed Alprazolam for Ms. Chaves, and that she used the prescription written by the doctor to obtain the prescribed Alprazolam at a pharmacy,” her lawyer said. “The drug possession charges appear to allege that she possessed the aforementioned Alprazolam upon obtaining it from the pharmacy via the prescription written by the doctor,” the lawyer added.

Montana shares a son, LaOne, with NBA star LaMelo Ball. The couple welcomed the child in January 2026 and publicly announced his birth on Mother’s Day in May. Ball was traded from Charlotte to Minnesota in June, with the NBA regular season scheduled to begin in the coming weeks. The charges against Montana remain allegations, and she has not been convicted of the offences.
