“Justice for Mohbad brought us together, but it also divided us” – VeryDarkMan explains fallout with Davido and others

Social media activist VeryDarkMan has explained his fallout with Davido, Zlatan and other celebrities, saying their disagreements stem from their differing positions during the campaign for justice for late singer Mohbad.

In a video addressed to members of the Ratel Movement, he said he initially questioned Naira Marley over Mohbad's complaints about his former record label, Marlian Records, but later began asking questions about other possible circumstances surrounding the singer's passing.

VeryDarkMan also recounted how he became friendly with Davido after the singer followed him on social media in 2024. However, he claimed their relationship changed after he obtained a WhatsApp group conversation in 2025 which allegedly showed that some people in Davido's circle had been involved in efforts that led to his arrest in 2024.

He said he repeatedly called Davido to ask about the conversations but received no response. He later saw a blog post suggesting that he wanted to record Davido's conversation and use it against him. He described this as a betrayal.

The activist further alleged that some members of the group were more interested in settling personal scores with Naira Marley than seeking justice for Mohbad. He also claimed they attempted to persuade Zinoleesky to leave Marlian Records during the controversy, but the singer refused.

Turning to Zlatan, VeryDarkMan criticised him for not speaking publicly during the initial campaign for justice for Mohbad, while accusing him of using the attention surrounding the singer's passing to promote their joint song, 'Account Balance'.

He said he no longer wished to associate with either singer, insisting that his criticism of Davido was also connected to the latter's political stance and support for his uncle's political ambition.

VeryDarkMan maintained that the fallout was not motivated by jealousy but by what he described as actions that undermined the campaign for justice for Mohbad.
