Troops recover corpse of missing man in Plateau

Troops of Operation Enduring Peace (OPEP) have recovered the corpse of a missing Mwaghavul native along the Lamor–Gohotkung road in Mangu Local Government Area of Plateau State.

The recovery was made at about 8:30 p.m. on October 27, 2026, after troops of Sector 8 OPEP responded to a report that two Mwaghavul natives had gone missing from their farmlands approximately 40 minutes after the attack.

The troops immediately launched a joint search operation across the affected farmlands, which led to the discovery of the corpse of one of the missing persons, identified as Steven Bala, in his farm at Lamor.

The corpse was subsequently recovered and handed over to members of the deceased's family.

Meanwhile, troops have continued the search for the second missing person, identified as Danbaba Libet, within the general area of Pushit District.

The incident occurred amid heightened security concerns following the reported killing of a herder by suspected Mwaghavul militia members along the Lamor–Gohotkung road.

Security personnel are continuing efforts to locate the remaining missing person and investigate the circumstances surrounding the incident.
