Kenyan woman left with brain damage after alleged poisoning at her birthday party

A Kenyan woman, Roselyn Ashanti Mchuna, suffered a brain damage after she was allegedly poisoned at her birthday party.

The entrepreneur was reportedly doing well in business, running a chain of Airbnb establishments in several towns.

On February 14, 2026, she brought together friends and loved ones for her lavish party held in Mombasa.

The memorable birthday party took a tragic turn when she collapsed during the event and was rushed to hospital.

According to an account shared about her ordeal by one Simon Mwangi Muthiora, a medical diagnosis indicated that she had consumed a poisonous substance at the party.

Her condition was reportedly so severe that she suffered 50% brain damage and spent months in the ICU.

Her family subsequently reported the matter to the authorities as an alleged attempted murder, hoping that investigations would establish what happened to her.

However, the family claims that despite reporting the incident, no one was summoned or arrested in connection with the matter.

The allegation has not been independently verified, and it remains unclear whether toxicology findings or other investigative evidence established poisoning as the cause of Roselyn's condition.

Roselyn's condition was reportedly so severe that she spent months in the intensive care unit (ICU).

According to the account, doctors treating her said she had suffered 50% brain damage. She was left unable to speak, walk, see or eat.

Roselyn is now under the care of her mother, according to the account shared about her situation.

Her story has raised questions about what happened at the birthday celebration, the medical circumstances surrounding her collapse and the progress of the family's complaint to the authorities.

The family is seeking answers about the incident.
