Police arrest suspect for threatening to kidnap man if he fails to pay N5m ransom in Bauchi

The Bauchi State Police Command has arrested a 25-year-old man, Musa Buba over alleged criminal intimidation and kidnapping attempt. 

The spokesperson for the command, Nafiu Habib, who disclosed this in a statement on Monday, October 12, 2026 said the suspect had called one Idris using a GSM number and demanded a ransom of N5m with a threat to kidnap him if he fails to pay the amount. 

"On 12th October, 2026, operatives attached to Bununu Division, led by the DPO, acted on actionable intelligence and diligently tracked and arrested one Musa Buba 'M' 25 years old of Dull Village, for criminal intimidation and attempt to commit kidnapping,” the statement read.

 

"The suspect had called one Idris (other names withheld) 'M' of Kururuwa Village via Dull, via GSM No. 09038****95, threatened him and demanded the sum of Five Million Naira (N5,000,000:00) as ransom, with a threat to kidnap him to an unknown destination should he fail to comply.

 

“During interrogation, the suspect voluntarily confessed to the commission of the crime and the SIM card used for the ransom negotiation was recovered as exhibit.”
