Nigerian striker David Okereke has won Serie B’s September Goal of the Month award for his long-range strike in Benevento’s 3-1 victory over Hellas Verona.
The 29-year-old scored from approximately 30 metres in the 59th minute with the match level at 1-1. He collected the ball outside the penalty area before firing a right-footed shot into the top corner beyond goalkeeper Nicola Leali.
It was Okereke’s first goal in four league appearances for Benevento this season. He beat Modena striker Andrea Belotti and Cremonese youngster Adin Ličina to the award. Okereke joined Benevento on a free transfer in August after leaving Cremonese.
