One injured as five-storey building partially collapses in Abuja

One worker sustained minor injuries after a five-storey building under construction partially collapsed on Durban Street, Wuse II, Abuja at about 6.30pm on Saturday, October 18.

In a statement released, the National Emergency Management Authority NEMA said its Abuja Operations Office received an alert about Saturday’s incident, prompting the activation of relevant emergency response agencies.

The agency said the FCT Fire Service was among the stakeholders mobilised, while its AYA Emergency Response Ambulance Bay team was deployed to coordinate search and rescue operations.

The agency said no life was lost in the incident and confirmed that the injured worker was evacuated to a nearby hospital for medical attention.
