Why I'm not married at 52 — Rapper Ruggedman reveals

Veteran Nigerian rapper Michael Ugochukwu Stephens, popularly known as Ruggedman, has opened up about why he is still unmarried at 52.

Speaking during a recent radio interview, Ruggedman explained that the demands of building his music career took up much of his time, while a five-year relationship he believed would lead to marriage eventually ended.

“I am one of those who got into the industry back in the day where all we had was our hustle and we faced it and before you know it, time was gone,” he said.

He noted that some of his colleagues were fortunate to find partners willing to support them through their careers.

“2baba was lucky to have found partners who were ready to walk that road with him, I wasn’t that lucky,” he added.

Ruggedman also revealed that he is currently single and has always been determined not to have children outside marriage.

“The only thing I vowed is that I will never have a child out of wedlock,” he said.

Despite his age, the rapper maintained that he has not given up on marriage.

“No, I don’t think it’s too late. It’s never too late. As long as you are alive, it’s never too late to get married,” he said.

When asked about his sexuality, Ruggedman clarified that he is straight.
