Eight-month-old baby passes on after pulling bucket of hot water over herself

An eight-month-old girl has passed on after sustaining severe burns when she pulled a bucket of hot water over herself at a home in Epworth, Harare, Zimbabwe.

The Zimbabwe Republic Police confirmed that the incident occurred on October 21, 2026. The infant passed on three days later, on October 24, while receiving treatment at Sally Mugabe Hospital.

According to police, the baby crawled towards the bucket before pulling it over herself. She suffered serious burns and was taken to hospital for treatment.

The incident prompted expressions of sympathy on social media, with users calling for greater vigilance around infants who have started crawling.
