Peter Obi demands release of his supporter allegedly arrested in Lagos

The presidential candidate of the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC), Peter Obi, has demanded the release of his supporter, Rilwan Olawale, allegedly arrested while campaigning for him.

Olawale, an NDC and Peter Obi mobiliser, was allegedly arrested by security agents who stormed his residence in Lagos at about 1am on Sunday, October 25.

In a statement released today, October 26, Obi alleged that Rilwan's arrest was politically motivated and condemned what he described as the continued intimidation of his supporters across the country.

The former Anambra State governor called for transparency over the arrest, respect for Olawale’s rights and an end to what he characterised as politically motivated harassment.

He also accused President Tinubu of benefiting from Nigeria’s democracy while allegedly undermining its principles by encouraging and facilitating violence.
