Abducted newlywed couple regain freedom after N10m ransom payment, uncle passes away in captivity

A kidnapped newlywed couple, Rev. Abiodun David and Funmilayo Bamidele, have regained their freedom after spending 21 days in captivity.

LIB reported that the couple were returning from their engagement ceremony when gunmen abducted them and four other persons along the border area of the Iyemero and Eruku Road, between Kwara and Kogi State on September 26, 2026.

A local source disclosed that the groom’s uncle passed away while in captivity, adding that his body had not been released as of the time of filing this report.

It was gathered that the armed bandits freed the newlyweds following the payment of a N10 million ransom.

The couple have been reunited with their family after their release.
