Cornell student Diego Sarabia loses Wells Fargo job amid alleged s3xual assault case

Diego Sarabia, one of seven former Cornell University students accused in a civil lawsuit of s3xually assaulting a former student, is reportedly no longer employed by Wells Fargo as prosecutors reconsider whether to pursue criminal charges over the alleged 2024 incident.

Sources cited by TMZ said Sarabia is no longer employed at the bank’s Charlotte, North Carolina, branch, where he had reportedly worked since 2022. His departure was said to be directly connected to the Tompkins County District Attorney’s announcement that the case was being reopened.

Sarabia is among seven former Cornell students and fraternity brothers named in a civil lawsuit filed by a woman identified as Jane Doe. She alleges that she was drugged and r@ped by multiple men at the Chi Phi fraternity house in October 2024.

According to the lawsuit, Doe had been drinking at Moonies Bar & Nightclub before going to the fraternity house. She claims she was underage and visibly intoxicated but was still served alcohol.

Moonies has denied the allegation, saying its staff marked the hands of underage guests and provided wristbands only to customers aged 21 or older. The establishment said bartenders were instructed to serve alcohol only to people wearing the appropriate wristbands. The lawsuit further alleges that a Chi Phi member sent a crude Snapchat message referring to “free p***y” to other fraternity members while Doe was allegedly incapacitated.

Doe claims several men subsequently entered the room, including Sarabia, whom she accuses of grabbing her face and kissing her while she attempted to hide beneath the covers. She further alleges that ketamine was used during the alleged s3xual assault.
The Tompkins County District Attorney’s Office did not bring criminal charges after the incident was initially reported.

Prosecutors have now reopened the investigation and said they intend to present the case to a grand jury with Doe’s cooperation.
The district attorney said the renewed investigation would examine whether additional evidence has emerged that was not available during the original review and whether it could change the previous assessment of the case. No criminal charges have been filed against Sarabia or the other men in connection with the allegations.

Wells Fargo and Sarabia had not responded to requests for comment at the time of the report. The claims against Sarabia and the other men remain allegations contained in a civil lawsuit, and no criminal court has found them guilty of the alleged offences.
