Nursing mother arrested for allegedly attempting to sell her baby for N1.5 million

A nursing mother was apprehended on Monday night, November 2, in Owerri, Imo State, while allegedly attempting to sell her baby for N1.5 million.

According to Imo-based journalist Chidiebube Okeoma, who disclosed this on social media, stated that he received a tip from an anonymous person who informed him of the nursing mother and her sinister intention.

He said he advised the person to play along and pretend to be interested in buying the baby. He then directed them to meet at a hotel close to the Imo State Police Headquarters.

According to him, when they arrived at the agreed location, he drove the woman and the person who contacted him to the police station.

During questioning, the suspect allegedly blamed another woman, claiming that she advised her to sell the baby. However, the woman she accused denied making such a suggestion.

The suspect further claimed that she decided to sell the baby because she did not know the child's father and lacked the financial means to take care of the child.
