Kano court sentences man and accomplice to death by hanging for murder of his childhood friend

A Kano State High Court has sentenced two young men, Aliyu Adamu and Mubarak Abdussalam, to death by hanging for murder of Dahiru Musa, while a third defendant, Sadik Sanusi, was sentenced to seven years in prison.

LIB reported that Aliyu Adamu was a close associate and childhood friend of the victim, fondly known as Baba Senior.

Aliyu confessed that he committed the dastardly crime with the intention to convert the deceased's landed property to his own as he was in possession of the land documents.

The Kano State Government had charged the trio with criminal conspiracy, murder and concealing a crime.

Delivering judgment, Justice Fatima Adamu of Court 18, Miller Road, said the prosecution, led by Barrister Salisu Muhammad Tahir, had presented sufficient evidence to establish the charges against the defendants.

The court found Aliyu Adamu and Mubarak Abdussalam guilty of unaliving Alhaji Dahiru, a resident of Yankusa, by stabbing him with a knife.

He also found them guilty of conspiring with Sadik Sanusi, who allegedly used his commercial tricycle to convey them to the scene where they burnt the victim’s body.

The prosecution said the defendants committed the offence in an attempt to seize the deceased’s land ownership documents.
