A Nigerian woman has broken down in tears after a prolonged power outage reportedly ruined more than 50 bottles of tiger nut drink she had prepared for customers.
In a video shared online, the woman, who runs a small business selling tiger nut drinks, said she had been without electricity for more than three days, leaving her unable to preserve the drinks in her refrigerator.
She explained that she had more than 50 bottles of the drink in the fridge and was expected to supply them to customers that day.
The businesswoman said she considered buying petrol to power a generator and preserve the products but became worried about the cost, especially as she would have to spend money on fuel without knowing how much profit she would make from the sales.
She also complained about the rising cost of running a small business in Nigeria, saying that even basic necessities such as electricity had become difficult to access.
Visibly upset, she blamed the country's poor infrastructure for making it difficult for people to earn a living and accused political leaders of failing to address the challenges facing ordinary Nigerians.
She also criticised people who intend to support President Bola Tinubu's re-election bid based on tribal or personal political interests, saying they should consider the hardship many citizens are experiencing.
The woman said her tears were out of frustration and anger over what she described as systemic failures affecting Nigerians who are trying to build livelihoods for themselves.
