There is outrage in Ugya community, Toto Local Government Area of Nasarawa State, after the principal of Junior Secondary School, Ugya, allegedly beat a JSS 2 student.
A resident, Huzaifa Yusuf, who disclosed the incident to a Nasarawa publication said the student was beaten by the principal for allegedly failing to go for manual labour after school hours.
Yusuf said the student's father later went to the school to complain about the excessive beating and warned the principal not to treat his child in such manner again.
He was, however, reportedly taken to the police station for challenging the principal.
Residents have called on the Nasarawa State Ministry of Education and relevant authorities to investigate the matter and ensure justice is served.
