Ondo high chief k!lled in 'accidental discharge' during traditional funeral rites (video)

Tragedy struck in Ayeka, a town in Okitipupa Local Government Area of Ondo State when a high chief was fatally shot during a traditional funeral rites. 

 

According to Channels Television, the incident occurred on Monday, October 5, 2026 while the deceased’s colleagues were performing traditional funeral rites for him.

 

According to an eyewitness account, the situation became tense when a yet-to-be-identified carrier of firearms suddenly discharged, and the bullet hit the High Chief in the head, resulting in instant d3ath.

 

Some of the locals who were present at the ceremony said the unfortunate incident was a result of accidental discharge.

 

Spokesperson of Ondo State Police Command, DSP Abayomi Jimoh, confirmed the incident on Tuesday, saying one suspect has been arrested.

 

Jimoh added that a detailed investigation into the incident has commenced.
