My wife and I are still very much together - Okey Bakassi dismisses divorce rumors

Popular Nigerian comedian and Nollywood actor Okey Bakassi has strongly debunked viral social media reports claiming that his marriage has collapsed. 

The rumors alleged that his wife had relocated to the United States to study nursing and demanded a divorce after he spent 15 years funding her education from Nigeria.

Reacting through a video message shared on his social media handles, the veteran entertainer described the publication as completely false and an intentional attempt to disrespect his family. He clarified that the fake report originated after a video he made discussing politics was maliciously taken out of context. 

The actor noted that the viral falsehood triggered a flood of panicked calls from concerned friends and family worldwide, but reassured his supporters that his marriage remains perfectly intact.

“While I was on set today filming a new movie with my colleagues, someone was busy on social media trying to disrespect me and my family. Someone went on social media and created an article with my name, my picture and that of my wife, alleging that we have gone our separate ways.

And since then, friends, family and fans have been calling me from all over the world, calling my wife with this troubling news.

Please, let me say to our friends, family and fans, my wife and I, we are still together. God forbid anything will ever happen to us.” he said

Bakassi, who described his wife and children as the most important people in his life, said hie and his wife recently celebrated their 25th wedding anniversary in Canada.
