Man terminates his wife over land sale and infidelity, takes own life in Delta community

​Tragedy struck in Agbarho community, Ughelli North Local Government Area of Delta State, as a man allegedly dismembered his wife, and then unsliced himself by drinking poisonous substance.

The incident occurred at the couple’s residence on Owiri Street, Agbarho, following a history of domestic disagreements and alleged physical confrontations. 

A source told Vanguard that the man reacted angrily to his wife's alleged infidelity and sale of his landed property.

A neighbour disclosed that the couple have been living separately amid persistent marital disputes.

The deceased man's elder brother expressed sadness over the tragic incident.

He told the publication that he is not fully aware of the circumstances that led to the tragedy but said that as family, there are different situations that could cause a confrontation. 

He disclosed that the couple has four children, adding that their eldest child, a boy, was reportedly about 21 years old. 

However, he declined to disclose his identity or the names of the deceased.

A senior police officer, who requested anonymity, confirmed the incident and said the bodies have been evacuated to a morgue.

The police officer disclosed that investigations were ongoing, noting that neither family has lodged a formal complaint with the police.
