A Nigerian widow has advised married couples to ensure their spouses have access to important banking information, after she spent more than eight months trying to access funds in her late husband’s account.
Sharing her experience online, the woman said her husband d!£d in January 2025, leaving about ₦395,000 in his bank account.
She said she has been unable to access the money since his d£@th because the family has had to go through several procedures to retrieve the funds.
According to her, the process has lasted over eight months, with repeated trips to the relevant location despite making no significant progress.
She claimed she had already spent more than 20 per cent of the money in the account on transportation while trying to resolve the issue.
The widow advised people with bank accounts to ensure someone they trust, particularly their spouse, knows their banking details and PINs in case of an emergency.
“If you are not doing this thing because of weakness or anything, you are doing it based upon trust and based upon tomorrow, in case something happens tomorrow,” she said.
She said having access to the necessary information could prevent loved ones from experiencing the difficulties she faced after her husband’s d£@th.
