Singer, Davido has sparked widespread reaction on social media after liking a video by controversial critic VeryDarkMan (VDM) that fiercely criticized the singer and his uncle, Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke.
The backlash follows Governor Adeleke’s attendance at an All Progressives Congress (APC) event in Abuja, where he pledged allegiance to President Bola Tinubu’s 2027 re-election bid and agreed to lead his campaign in Osun State.
In his video analysis, VDM blasted the Adeleke family and accused them of political hypocrisy. He read out Davido’s past anti-APC tweets to argue that the singer's previous fiery opposition to the party was merely a performative lie to win a localized election. VDM heavily questioned Davido’s integrity now that his uncle is openly hobnobbing with the exact same politicians they once condemned. He went on to accuse Davido of neglecting the citizens of Osun State once voting ends, alleging that the singer only remembers his home state during election periods rather than tracking how the residents are faring under his uncle's administration.
He said: “You are a user. You are someone who uses your fans and your popularity to your advantage... I don't want to see you put your mouth in election matters again.”
Rather than ignoring the harsh critique, Davido shocked netizens by leaving a "like" on the viral video. However, the singer is yet to expressly react to VDM's call-out.
