A 29-year-old prison nurse in the UK, Stephanie Adair, has pleaded guilty to misconduct in public office after admitting to having an inappropriate relationship with an inmate at HMP Wandsworth prison in south-west London.
Adair became involved with 28-year-old Jahki Crosdale, who was serving a six-year prison sentence for a fatal attack on 19-year-old trainee plumber Charlie Burns in 2015 over a £150 cannabis debt.
The relationship reportedly lasted from September 1, 2023, to November 2, 2024, and came to light after Crosdale listed Adair's address in his court documents.
According to the charge, Adair maintained an inappropriate personal relationship with Crosdale and communicated with him through an unauthorised mobile phone while working as a prison nurse.
Crosdale also admitted transmitting images or sounds from inside HMP Wandsworth and HMP Lowdham Grange without authorisation between February and October 2024.
Adair appeared before Wimbledon Magistrates' Court, where Judge Georgina Kent directed her to cooperate with the preparation of a pre-sentence report ahead of her sentencing on February 9, 2027.
Following an investigation, the Nursing and Midwifery Council temporarily restricted Adair from working in prisons. However, she remains listed as a practice nurse at Trevelyan House GP surgery in Tooting, south-west London.
