Nigeria’s Super Falcons have booked their place in the third round of the 2028 Los Angeles Olympic Games qualifiers after securing a dominant 7-0 aggregate victory over Comoros.
The qualification was cemented following a 5-0 thrashing of Comoros in the second leg of the second-round encounter played on Tuesday at the Remo Stars Stadium in Ikenne, Ogun State, adding to their 2-0 victory from the first leg.
Uchenna Kanu and Toni Payne delivered stellar performances by netting two goals each, while Christy Ucheibe converted a penalty to complete the five-goal margin.
In the third round, the Super Falcons will face Morocco, with the two-legged fixtures scheduled to take place in early 2027. Morocco advanced to this stage via a walkover after Congo-Brazzaville withdrew from the competition.
The last high-stakes encounter between Nigeria and Morocco occurred during the 2024 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON) final, where the Nigerian side mounted a remarkable comeback from a two-goal deficit to win 3-2 and claim a record 10th continental title.
The Super Falcons are aiming to secure a qualification ticket to the Olympic Games as they pursue further success on the international stage.
