
German football veteran Thomas Muller has shared his picks for the 2026 Ballon d’Or, selecting Real Madrid forward Kylian Mbappe and Bayern Munich winger Michael Olise as the standout contenders for the prestigious prize.
Writing in his monthly email newsletter, the 37-year-old forward revealed that the duo have captured his attention through their exceptional individual displays.
“For me, there are two candidates who have thrilled me most with their individual performances,” Muller wrote. “And they are Michael Olise and his ideal partner at the World Cup, Kylian Mbappe.”
Both players feature prominently on the 30-man nominee shortlist for the 2026 Ballon d’Or, ahead of the official award ceremony scheduled for October 26.
