Nigerian lady reveals what her husband did after she gave him almost all her salary

A Nigerian lady has shared her husband's reaction after she gave him almost all her salary.

In a Twitter thread, the lady with the handle, @jagzangel, said she offered to reduce the financial burden on her husband after she received her salary and she could see how relieved he was when she took up some of the bills.

According to her, she is a helper to her hubby and not a responsibility. She said in appreciation, her husband went to the market without telling her, stocked up their home, and thereafter, cooked and served her .

Read her tweets below

''My salary came yesterday and immediately I received alert, I rushed to my husband and asked him how much he needs me to contribute after informing him that my salary has been paid. Oga thought I was joking and mentioned a figure thinking I was going to contest because it was

Almost all my salary, I just carried my phone and transferred it to him. It was doing him like film, I then went ahead to pay the salary of our children's lesson teacher so that he would stop thinking about it. That's when I realized that he was doing so much without complaining

He sees it like his duty and even when the financial burden is too much, he struggles to pay without asking me. He was so surprised and happy, I know that my money is just a fraction of what he brings but he felt like I gave him millions. I then told him that I am putting in the effort to make more money so that I can still reduce his stress. He didn't marry a responsibility, he married an helper and he should be feeling more relaxed than when he was single. I have never felt entitled to anybody's pocket and I won't do that with my husband.

Omo, oga went to the market without even telling me, stocked up the home. Cooked and served me o, this small support has gone a long way to settle silent quarrels that I didn't even know about.

I will keep working harder and doing my best, men also need support, they are not superman.''

I love this!!! When I settle bills, makes my husband super happy, love the man like kilode because he caters from his heart, And so I’ll take a bullet and spill my last drop of blood for him, treats me so good I wonder if he’s human, only God will continue to bless him for me.

May the Almighty God that answers me when I pray, provide and keep both of you in love. No evil eye will meet your home. May both of you continue to treat each other well. May God bless him with wisdom to head your home. This is what marriage is all about and God is pleased with your home.

Great. When your family succeeds both of you are happy and live longer and healthier. Problem is a lot of people come into marriage with entitlements and theories picked up from their parents, friends and society that make them not reap the full joy thag come from it. There is no formula if this works for you, by all means go for it and enjoy your marriage and dont let anyone tell you otherwise. We all need a little help sometime. All the best, and wish you more joy in your union.

Nne gi muru gi! When the Bible says he who finds a wife has found a good thing and obtains favor from the Lord, these are the kind of wives it was talking about. Mutual respect and cooperation goes a long way to make a marriage successful.

    16. The END

I read this post and immediately had goose bumps. It takes a good woman to do this. True, men go through a lot but we stay quiet about it. I don't know why other men remain silent about their own battles but for me, I do it cos I will never, EVER, put my burden on anyone. Your man is a very good man. I'm sure u know that. As for that bastard who said the man is cheating, no be curse ó but you can never find a good man/woman.

So men if you want something similar or even better for your home be a good husband and father also. You can't be irresponsible and expect this from your wife.

    19. Anonymous

Wow! Excellent story!! However, please understand that no woman would willingly give almost all of her salary to a man that she knows has side chicks, is a drunk, gambles, beats her etc. Her action demonstrates her confidence in her husband so only good men should expect and DESERVE this. Marriage is action:reaction. If you are good to your spouse, most of the time, you won't have to demand support, even lions as vicious as they are, are friendly to the people who groom and feed them...

It works for you doesn't mean it'll work for others, my husband was out of business for a while, I used to give him money, ran the home, paid my Children's school fees for over 4 years, I even used to borrow sef, i genuinely thought he didn't have means, that really was mostly the truth, but it was so because my guy relaxed and stopped trying. The load became so heavy it almost killed, and the day I didn't have again or who to borrow from, he found a way to settle bills, I started noticing he was seeing small small money and hiding it, he will buy clothes and shoes for himself, meanwhile I had not bought any new clothes in 4 years, all my money went into the household, I didn't even have savings, I had to wise up oh and start hiding a part of my income so i can save, i still support very much in the house oh, but he too brings his own, No be me love pass.

You being supportive to your husband has a way of attracting more blessings and Favour from God. That's what we call "giving wholeheartedly", a quality lacking in about 90% of women. For those of you married ladies who rely 99.9% on their husband's salary, while saving theirs just to buy one "hermes," bag, it's not too late to start having a rethink and assist your hubby in the little way that u can.

  6. chi alex

It's so unfortunate that we don't have women like this anymore. Men have been thought and groomed to suffer in silence. We have been thought that men don't cry and men don't share their emotions publicly, but this is wrong, this is why we have a huge number of men committing suicide today, because we suffer in silence . When you chose to let out your emotions, they say you are weak. I hope women will learn from this. Men are not superhumans, we are flesh and blood, we have emotions, we have feelings, we suffer, and we cry. I think women needs to be educated and taught to be supporters and helpers and not responsibilities. We are all created to complement each other. You can't spell a "woman" without a "man". And you can't spell "female" without "male" God help us all.

Well done. That’s a good initiative. To say the fact, things are quite tough out there and if you have the capability and capacity to support your man, please do. If you are not married with children, and you don’t pay bills, you don’t have any idea about what am saying so don’t even comment on this issue.

So Nigeria still have such women, my dear you will prosper in everything you do and the sky is your beginning, you are indeed a definition of a wife, not those wayward jobless and prostitudes who men mistakenly married will be feeling entitled and their family will be feeling entitled too, may God almighty keeps promoting you Amen

  14. Chichi

I have been married 2years plus now, and I never really got anything like gifts for hubby, so.i surprised him on his birthday last Sunday and bought him something he laments somuch that he realy likes but coudnt get at the time. He was super happy. He kept showing to everyone he sees and telling them " my wife bought it for me" and seeing the real joy and appreciation on his face made me super happy. Don't listen to crazy arrogant FEMINISTs who tells you men are scum and that, . There are really great men out there that treat their women like queens even without the woman contributing anything to the marriage or relationships.

  15. Sammie

Marriage is similar to an organization; firstly, no company has two CEOs managing it. Secondly, some bosses are very friendly, while others are horrible, similar to how some people are married to good men while others have monsters. Also, some companies have excellent benefits similar to rich or poor homes. Frustration can happen both ways; some staff frustrates their bosses, similar to how wives can become unbearable at home. Resigning after trying to resolve issues is like divorce; sometimes, you may find a better job or be unemployed – for the man, it’s like hiring someone new to fill the woman’s place. Some homes have women breadwinners, but out-shinning, the CEO can lead to conflict – as a result, some employees are doing the work of bosses, while the boss takes the credit. Some companies are fun, like Google …. Similar to some homes. Lastly, you cannot assess a company until you have joined and started working – sometimes your boyfriend may change after marriage.. my thoughts!

All men are not the same. That it didn't work for you back then doesn't mean it won't work for someone else. Maybe you did those things for him and yet you still lacked other good qualities or maybe your husband is just a bad man. Again all men are not the same

So many bitter people on this blog and in the country at large. @ God's Daughter, I bless the name of the Lord on ur behalf. You are a WONDER WOMAN

  71. NaijaTeddy

You see some men are not comfortable discussing with their wives to help with some bills, no matter how burdensome it is for them, they will carry on paying the bills and catering for the family. Some women will not act until to have the conversation with them, this is no fault of theirs, it's just how they are perhaps wired. Once you have the conversation with them, they will help, they only reason they perhaps never helped was maybe they did't know how the man will react if they offered to help. 3: Some women will argue when you ask them for help with bills in the house, they will fight with you but they will eventually see reasons and then they will help by contributing to the bills. 4: While some others, the day you talk about bill, start getting your lawyer ready, divorce process starts really soon.

It sounds honorable, but please save up for rainy day. If he eventually abandon you and your children, which is very likely judging from the way he suddenly change after receiving your hard end salary without a thought about your personal needs. Every woman out there wants to support their husband financially and otherwise but fear of side chicks, alcohol and unknown baby mamas hinders it all. Giving your salary to your husband is noble, but I am very tired of reading sad stories. I don't want to read epistle the day you decide not be so generous again. See why I always say that women are very selfish. In this generation they want men to be more loving, caring and involved in family and domestic matters but they somehow want the women to pull away and focus on themselves. The man will work his ass off to feed the family, pay bills, still help the woman to cook, clean, take good care of the kids but the woman should save her earnings for rainy days incase the man leaves her.

  80. Pirosicky

What is the hype in sharing the home bills. I didn't grow up in Nigeria, although i was born in Nigeria so this is strange to me . Pls can anyone give me honest answer without insult because I assume if you are married to someone y'all split the bills into half and pay it . Someone pay the mortgage/rent while the other pays the utility bills, is it normal for Nigerian ladies to just totally expect their husband to pay all bills ?

    1. Anonymous

Yes, it's partriachy here men wield the scepter in the Family and they pay all the bills it's the unwritten rule. But there are many dynamics to it, with different families adapting to what works for them depending on the family income. So over here it's unusual for 50- 50 bills splitting, infact if there's bill splitting the man shoulders 70 while the woman does 30. Here the men are head of the family, so you can't be head of the family controlling everyone and some even prevent their wives from working and still expect her to pay bills

A mature woman. Letting her husband know that she's a helper. Not a responsibility. Also shows she understands the man she married. I wish many more happy years and marital bliss ahead.

Are people supposed to praise this woman for her weird gesture of giving money to herself? You really expect a medal for paying your own children's lesson fee? I had a colleague who asked me whether she could use her salary for whatever she liked after she got married including buy a very expensive phone and not "give" her husband. I told her: when your baby's pampers have finished, when school fees are due, when rent is due, when DSTV has expired, when there is no food in the house for your kids, when your child is moaning "Mommy help me" in the hospital and bills need to be paid-- when all these things are on ground and your husband is broke and you have the money to pay, you will not even think of phone or anything for yourself. No one will ask you to bring out the money for these things before you do. The truth is an ideal marriage should not have "his money" and "my money." Husband and wife should be ONE in every aspect. But we do not live in an ideal world so there is division and division leads to distrust and distrust leads to separation of assets and ultimately breakdown of marriage when trust is broken. You will notice that marriages where the husband is very rich and takes care of every money need seldom have this "his money/my money" issue. APART FROM PEOPLE WHO BEAT THEIR SPOUSES, notice that it is when the wife is equally rich/poor or more successful that problems of "it is my money" arise. It should not be so. But that is the way it is. In marriage, giving money to your wife or husband is like giving money to yourself. You are not doing him or her a favour, especially if you have kids who are the product and key beneficiaries of your union. A starved wife or husband cannot raise healthy children. If you see things differently, then you simply are not united with your spouse and that is why cracks exist in marriage. Nobody can hold a marriage together. Only Christ can. Colossians tells us "In Him all things are held together." So trust Him to hold your marriage together for you. Only then can you be truly one with your spouse and stop acting like somebody should praise you for giving them money or support or paying your children's lesson fee. You did it for yourself and not for your husband. You are not separate entities. You are one.

Uhmm, my brother. E get why o, see one of the problems we are encountering that is making it seem as if ladies are unambitious did not start today, in our culture women are expected to take a back seat, if a woman happens to earn on the same level or higher than the husband problem done start be that, the woman is considered to have emasculate the man, I saw a nurse who earns 500k and a man who earns 69k the man asked her to leave her job to manage on his salary. Women are groomed to be wives and not be great but allow your husband to be great, so all this psychological grooming from childhood is setting men up to work more and women to work less, people even refuse to educate women because they assume they will end up in the kitchen. If a woman is successful, she would likely encounter problems with her husband and his family, why? The husband assumes she's proud if she does some of the littlest things she would do if she didn't have money of her own and he wouldn't have a problem with, but once she has some money if she talks in a certain way she's proud, the family of the husband are angry and that she is more successful than their son and try to take her down or or clip her wings. All these start from primary school when boys are mocked when girls out perform them in class or academically the boys are groomed that a girl must not be more successful than you and that's why you see some men who are rude to their female bosses because they are angry at the fact that how can a lady be ahead of me,? So we have all this conditioning from childhood all these things are carried on into adulthood and that's why we have the society we have today. It's a man's 🌎, everyone would agree, women need all the advantage they can get, if as a woman you have access to some money, help out with bills in your home after all if you don't marry you will still pay those bills but you need to use your head and have a safe nest where you safe money. In our culture if the man is tired of the marriage he would just throw you out, it means you are on your own

Many women do more than this in their homes. I always tell myself that it is our home and not just his home and our collective responsibility to contribute both financially and otherwise in running our home. Leaving all the bills for the man when you have a source of income is not just wickedness but belittling, I will feel useless if I don't contribute financially in my home.

Awon ti Feminist FC will disagree with her oh... Like someone said, only 5 of your types exists in Nigeria. Lool. Many Nigerian women will tell you that "my money is my money, but my husband's money is our money".
