I learned three things from her post. 1. Women are naturally unhappy beings, they sit next door to unhappiness/depression and they whine and complain in their hearts. 2. More Igbo women are rebelling and challenging the norm, it appears they have been more culturally restricted (culturally prevented from inheritance, drinking dead husband’s bath water, sleeping with dead husband etc) or maybe they are just the most culturally awake women in the society. 3. There is a generation whom detest criticism, rather than accept corrective criticisms, they would call it slut shaming, ‘haters’, ‘my enemies’, and they say “mind your business” to coarse away any criticism. Criticism is part of our living as a society. We are each other’s gate keepers, we are each other’s moral compasses the society should be able to redirect any sheep straying away from the flock without being told to “mind your business”. This generation must muster some guts and accept corrections without always feeling bad. Everything must not be watered down to soothe their egos.
In a nutshell, most women are immature and they need to grow up. Only a mature person will type all u said. God bless u.
You missed the main point of her post, which is that society really doesn't care. A society that wants to guide me, correct me, be my moral compass, should at least care about me. A society that hopes to "enforce" morals should at least be moral enough to be fair. A society that upholds double standards (slut shaming the woman while the man goes scot free, for example) has failed already as a moral compass. We hate to admit it, but this society has treated women, especially, unfairly. I get this lady's point - women shouldn't put each other down. Society tries to do enough of that already.
Every woman's life and story, including her sexuality, evolves differently. However a woman's individual story evolves, may all women have the wisdom that they need to use their sexuality for the betterment of themselves and society. Woman, you have the power!!!!!!!
