Earlier today, the video of some men dressed in military attire assaulting a yet-to-be identified man in a discreet location has surfaced online. Following the various reactions that has trailed the video, the spokesperson of the Nigerian Army spokesperson, Sagir Musa, has now released a statement questioning the authenticity of the video..
I woke up this morning to explore the goings-on in the social media uncensored or unregulated world. Good as it is, yet, I met with one of the most hateful things in the eyes, ears and/or professional direction of the chief of Army Staff Lt Gen TY Buratai which is - flagrant violation of human rights especially by soldiers.
2. However, looking at the video closely and carefully, even without or before deliberate investigation is conducted, one can raise salient fundamental common sense observations with regards to the video especially on the 3 persons that are dressed in camouflage uniform. The observations are:
a. The persons in uniform, - all of them - completely - lack military bearing. None of them is fully dressed like present day Nigerian Army (NA) personnel. The camouflage is not the proper NA camouflage in use today. This can easily be compared and corroborated.
b. The style of their dressing and the dressing itself, - is at variance with the dressing pattern of contemporary NA soldiers - No name sign on the chest, desert boots on woodland camouflage?
c. Again, putting on belt on top of camouflage uniform has since been banned in NA dress code! Look at the black boot of one of the soldiers in the video - looking - too Civil!
d. The setting/the environment in which the atrocity, - the rights abuse was conducted is also suspicious. 'Soldiers' carrying a suspect into a private house not barracks?
e. And watching carefully from the victim to the perpetrators of the abuse, - the whole show, the drama appeared staged managed.
f. Ordinarily, how can soldiers of a national army abducted and brutalized in a manner as shown in the video a fellow country man or woman and record it only for public to watch? Of what gain is that to him or them as shown in the clip. In other words there is more to this evil machination.
3. Significantly, with the silent professional transformation going on in the NA and the professional temperament of the NA leadership at all levels of command, one will be doubtful of the conduct of these "fake soldiers' as shown in the video recording.
4. NA will surely investigate and make its findings public. Anyone found culpable will be dealt with decisively and appropriately.

How do we (public) know who is who, camouflage or not? Please let us know what the Nigerian army stands for, not in words but in action. What should you expect when you interact or meet with our military men (Soldiers and others) should we expect them to speak to us with respect or with FEAR. I mean what is obtainable? are they patient (even a bit), do they listen carefully before reacting or sometimes act irrationally. Please, should the people on the street live in dread of those that are sworn to protect, shouldn't we see them and all we think of is Love for them for the sacrifice they pay. There is much work to be done in this respect and every one is responsible. Stop finger pointing.

Liar!! isn't that NDA cadet uniform on the one who slapped the guy? Why would the other two leave their ranks or insignia on when they want to video an obvious abuse of an unharmed civilian? It’s clear they are Nigerian soldiers. The Army spokesperson is just trying to be diplomatic. They never intended for the video to be leaked
And here is why lots of Nigerians join the army, to abuse power not to defend/protect civilians... and you wonder why most of them run from the warfront and cry when deployed there
Those are cadets of the Nigerian defence academy ,the military should own up to responsibility and speak the truth for once .

If these are real soldiers then this conduct is unacceptable and should be investigated, if they are NDA students they should be dismissed, no one should accept this, where is the permethey have, Why do Nigerians accept these things without questioning. This is abuse.

No military officer has the right to discipline a civilian in a civil situation they are to take the individual to a police station we can see that it is not a resisting arrest situation hence no force is authorised in law

If the Army have already reached a conclusion that the video was stage managed even before they investigate the same,why still investigate it.Outcome of any investigation seems to be compromised already.
I hope they have investigated before concluding it is not their officials

Recently in Lagos a group of naval officers attacked a civilian because their colleague hit the civilian’s car and when the the naval officers arrived at the scene without any questions they started beating the civilian that they almost burnt him if not for the civilian passerby’s who started pleading for mercy. After this incident , they took the civilian to the police station requesting for 500k to repair the naval officers car....I don’t really believe these excuses.
