Police uncover indoor cannabis farm inside Lagos residential property

The Lagos State Police Command has uncovered an indoor cannabis cultivation operation inside a residential property in the state.

Footage from the operation showed a room allegedly converted into a cannabis farm, with plants being grown in cups under a controlled system. The plants reportedly required at least three months to mature before they could be harvested and sold.

A man linked to the property told investigators that he had allowed a foreign national, who was experiencing difficulties in Nigeria, to use the room after offering to help him return to his home country.

He claimed the idea to cultivate cannabis came from the foreign national and insisted that he had no intention of making money from the operation.

The man said he only agreed to the arrangement because he wanted to assist the individual, adding that the alleged plan came to light when the foreign national attempted to sell the cultivated plants.

The Lagos State Commissioner of Police described the discovery as another breakthrough in the command's efforts to tackle drug abuse and trafficking.

The police also urged residents to pay attention to activities within their neighbourhoods and report suspicious operations.
