Kano Assembly extends suspension of 3 LG chairmen

The Kano State House of Assembly has extended the suspension of the chairmen of Rogo, Bagwai and Bebeji Local Government Areas by a further three months.

The House also renewed the mandate of the ad hoc committee investigating allegations that the chairmen violated due process and administrative procedures.

The decision followed the expiration of the initial three-month period approved for their suspension and the investigation. In a statement, the Assembly’s Chief Press Secretary, Kamaluddeen Sani Shawai, said the additional time would allow the committee to complete its inquiries, examine the petitions against the chairmen and present its findings to the House.

The statement said the committee, constituted under the leadership of Speaker Jibril Ismail Falgore, had been given another three months to conclude its assignment. The allegations against the three council chairmen remain under investigation.
