Police rescue kidnapped Catholic priest and five other victims in Benue

The Benue State police has rescued a Catholic priest, Rev. Fr. John Inalegwu Otache, and five other residents from their abductors in the Ohimini Local Government Area (LGA) of the state.

The spokesperson for the command, DSP Aondogu Orchia, disclosed this to journalists on Sunday, October 18, 2026 in Makurdi.

LIB reported that Otache, a priest of the Catholic Diocese of Otukpo in Benue, was kidnapped on October 13, along the Otobi-Amejo-Ajegbe road.

The PPRO said that the victims were rescued on Sunday evening by security agents.

Orchia said that the abductees were currently at the Otukpo Teaching Hospital for medical checks.
