Police arrest ex-convict involved in rampant armed robbery attack on POS operators in Awka

 

The Anambra State Police Command has arrested a 27-year-old ex-convict, Chidera Anthony Eleh, alias *"Timaya"*, for alleged motorcycle-assisted robberies targeting POS operators in Awka.

 

A video showing the suspected armed robbers attacking POS operators located at Aroma junction and carting away their cash made the rounds some days ago.

Following the viral video, the police launched an investigation which led to the arrest of the suspect this afternoon, October 9, 2026, during an intelligence-led operation.

Police recovered from him a motorcycle, an axe, a cutlass, and other incriminating items.

A statement by the Police Public Relations Officer, SP Tochukwu Ikenga, states that the suspect is in custody while investigation continues to track his accomplices.
