The Nigeria Centre for Disease Control and Prevention (NCDC) has identified two suspected cases of Ebola Virus Disease in the North-East region of the country.

The NCDC disclosed the development in an official update on Saturday, confirming that samples have been collected from the isolated patients and sent for laboratory testing to determine their status.

"Two suspected Ebola cases identified in north-east, says NCDC," the agency stated.

The public health agency confirmed that rapid response teams have been deployed to the affected states to conduct contact tracing and implement containment measures to prevent potential community transmission.

Urging the public to maintain calm, the NCDC advised Nigerians to adhere strictly to personal hygiene practices, avoid contact with bushmeat, and report symptoms such as fever, vomiting, diarrhea, or unexplained bleeding immediately to the nearest health facility.

The agency noted that it is collaborating with state governments and international health partners to manage the situation, adding that formal updates will be released as soon as laboratory results are finalized.
