“My son's wife is refusing to allow us bury him in his house. She wants a cemetery” – Father of late gospel singer ToluwaniSings cries out

Muniru Adekunle Olayemi, father of late gospel singer ToluwaniSings, has appealed to his son's wife to reconsider her decision to have the singer laid to rest in a cemetery.

ToluwaniSings passed away on October 14, 2026, and his burial arrangements have reportedly become a source of disagreement between his father and wife.

Speaking in a recent interview, Olayemi said he visited his daughter-in-law after learning about his son's passing online and requested that Toluwani be laid to rest in his house or family compound.

However, he claimed she rejected the request and insisted on a cemetery.

“I don't want him buried in a church or cemetery. I want him buried in his house and that will make me happy,” he said.

The grieving father also recalled how Toluwani was raised by his maternal relatives after his mother passed away in 1992, a few months after his birth.

According to him, his late wife's family requested to raise the child, and their Christian background influenced Toluwani's upbringing.

He revealed that the singer's Muslim name was Sodiq Olayemi Bayonle, adding that he maintained contact with his son and contributed to his education.

Olayemi is now appealing to his daughter-in-law and others involved in the burial arrangements to respect his wish to have his son laid to rest at home.
