Man arrested for allegedly defiling 7-year-old girl as police nab two others over drug possession in Bauchi

The Bauchi State Police Command has arrested a 20-year-old man, Mujahid Danjuma, for allegedly def!ling a seven-year-old girl in Dass Local Government Area of the state.

The command also arrested two men over alleged possession of Indian hemp. 

The spokesperson for the command, SP Nafiu Habib, who disclosed this in a statement on Tuesday, October 13, 2026 said the arrests were part of the command’s sustained efforts to combat crime across the state.

According to the PPRO, the case was reported on September 28 by the victim’s 30-year-old mother, who alleged that Danjuma lured the minor into an unfinished building in the area and had unlawful carnal knowledge of her.

The victim was taken to the General Hospital, Dass, where a medical examination confirmed penetration, while the suspect fled after the alleged offence.

Habib added that the suspect was arrested in the early hours of Tuesday, October 13, following sustained efforts and intelligence-led policing.

"The Bauchi State Police Command has continued to sustain its aggressive onslaught against criminality with the arrest of suspects for being in possession of dry leaves suspected to be Indian hemp and rape,” the statement read.

"In the first incident, on 12/10/2026 at about 0210hrs, a patrol team attached to Duguri Division, while on routine crime prevention patrol, arrested one Iliyasu Yakubu 'M' 27 years old of Duguri Town, found in possession of dry leaves suspected to be Indian hemp, alongside his vendor one Zakariya Ibrahim 'M' 25 years old of the same address. The suspects were promptly arrested and exhibits recovered. Investigation is ongoing.

"In a another development, sequel to a previously reported case of defilement dated 28/09/2026, wherein a F' 30 years old mother, resident of Bundot area, Dass LGA, reported at Dass Division that on 25/09/2026 at about 1700hrs, one Mujahid Danjuma 'M' 20 years old of the same address, lured her daughter 7 years old daughter to an uncompleted burnt building in the area and unlawfully had carnal knowledge of her. 

"The victim was rushed to General Hospital Dass where she was examined and penetration was confirmed, while the suspect fled to an unknown destination.

"However, in a display of relentless follow-up and intelligence-led policing, operatives of the Command at the early hours of today, 13th October, 2026 arrested the fleeing suspect, Mujahid Danjuma, who is currently in custody.

“Consequently, all suspects will be transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID), Bauchi for discreet investigation and prosecution.”
