“Is this what your minimum wage over there can afford?” - Nigerian man slams diaspora supporters of ruling party over rising cost of living

“Is this what your minimum wage over there can afford?” - Nigerian man slams diaspora supporters of ruling party over rising cost of living

A Nigerian man has criticized members of the diaspora who continue to support the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) despite the country's relentless economic challenges.

In a trending video, the man showcases three everyday clothing items—a pair of shoes, trousers, and a shirt—for which he claimed to have paid ₦75,000. Directing his frustration outward, he asks Nigerians living abroad if the monthly minimum wage in their respective host countries could realistically be swallowed up by the cost of just three basic items of clothing.

Reflecting on the rapid erosion of purchasing power in the country, the man notes that the exact same outfit would have cost less than ₦10,000 only a few years ago. He argues that the hyperinflation driving up the price of clothing is a symptom of a much wider economic hardship affecting all essential commodities nationwide.

Concluding his lamentation, the man directly calls on the President to resign, asserting that the administration has failed to deliver on its foundational promises to improve the lives and economic well-being of everyday citizens.
