Actress Selma Blair was taken to the hospital and is in stable condition following an alleged incident aboard a commercial flight from Los Angeles to New York City on Sunday night.
Port Authority law enforcement officers responded to reports of a physically abusive passenger aboard a Delta Air Lines flight arriving at John F. Kennedy International Airport from Los Angeles International Airport. Upon landing, Blair was taken into custody by authorities and transported to a medical facility for evaluation.
According to the Port Authority, two flight attendants reported injuries following the interaction, with one crew member requiring transport to a hospital for further evaluation. Dispatch audio from air traffic control confirmed medical personnel were requested to meet the incoming aircraft to treat two injured flight attendants.
The Federal Bureau of Investigation has launched an inquiry into the incident. In an official statement, the FBI's New York field office noted that the agency does not comment on active investigations.
A spokesperson for Delta Air Lines confirmed that law enforcement met the aircraft upon arrival, emphasizing the carrier's security policy.
"Delta has zero tolerance for unruly or unlawful behavior, as the safety of our customers and crew always comes first," the airline stated.
A representative for Blair stated on Monday that the incident stemmed from an acute health issue.
"Selma experienced a medical emergency that led to the alleged conduct," the representative said. "Upon landing, she received immediate medical attention and is currently in stable condition."
Blair, known for her roles in films including Cruel Intentions, Legally Blonde, and the Hellboy franchise, publicly disclosed her diagnosis of multiple sclerosis in 2018. Prior to the flight, the actress had shared a video recap of her recent travel schedule across social media.
