A video showing a Nigerian man in a heated argument with police officers who demanded a NAFDAC number for locally made zobo drinks has gone viral on social media.
The confrontation began when the officers intercepted a businesswoman to question her about the bottles of zobo drinks she was transporting for sale. Dissatisfied with her explanations, the operatives demanded that she provide a National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control (NAFDAC) registration number and official product labeling for the beverages.
‘’ This thing is supposed to have NAFDAC number. Does this thing have NAFDAC number? s a police man, don't I have the right to ask?'' one of the officers said
Seeing the situation unfold, a male bystander stepped in to challenge the officers. He strongly questioned their legal authority to enforce regulatory compliance, arguing that checking for NAFDAC registration numbers falls outside the statutory jurisdiction of the Nigeria Police Force.
