Kenyan mum stops child from writing examination after school issued him 666 as his exam number (video)

The Kenyan police today October 27 arrested a mother in Jomvu, Mombasa County, after locking her Grade 6 daughter inside the house to block her from sitting her Kenya Primary School Education Assessment (KPSEA) exams because she was assigned registration/index number contained 666, which the mother claimed was satanic, forbidden in the Bible, and a threat to her child's safety.

The police were alerted. They intervened, rescued the learner, and detained the mother as she attempted to defend her decision to reporters.

Reports noted that the child's father had also previously warned the student against sitting the exam due to warnings influenced by a pastor's prophecy.

The incident had sparked a debate on whether a parent’s religious belief should affect a child’s right to sit for an important national examination.
