The Court of Arbitration for Sport expects to deliver its ruling on Senegal’s appeal against the loss of their Africa Cup of Nations title by the end of November 2026. CAS announced on Monday, October 19, that the case was heard behind closed doors at its headquarters in Lausanne on October 8.
“The panel have begun and continue their deliberations,” it said. “The CAS arbitrators have decided to issue a complete ruling which includes legal grounds, known as a CAS Award. This process will require several weeks, with the CAS Award expected at the end of November 2026.”
Senegal defeated Morocco 1-0 in the January 18 final in Rabat through Pape Gueye’s extra-time goal. However, the match was interrupted near the end of normal time when several Senegal players left the pitch to protest a penalty awarded to Morocco while the score remained goalless.
Some Senegalese supporters also attempted to enter the pitch. Play was delayed for almost 20 minutes before the players returned. In March, the Confederation of African Football overturned the result, awarded Morocco a 3-0 victory and transferred the title to the hosts. Senegal subsequently appealed that decision to CAS.
